Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards. The role involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing nursing interventions, administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and clinical condition, reporting abnormalities promptly.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
Medication Administration
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and report concerns.
- Maintain safe medication handling and storage practices.
Clinical Procedures
- Perform nursing procedures such as IV cannulation, catheterization, wound dressing, specimen collection, and other assigned procedures.
- Follow infection control practices and universal precautions.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of medical equipment.
Patient Education
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Promote health awareness and disease prevention practices.
Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with doctors, allied health professionals, and support departments for comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in ward rounds and clinical discussions.
- Communicate effectively during shift handovers.
Quality and Compliance
- Adhere to hospital policies, NABH standards, and nursing protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Report incidents, medication errors, and safety concerns as per hospital policy.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Registration Certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
Experience
- Freshers or experienced candidates in a hospital setting.
- Experience in specialty units such as ICU, OT, NICU, PICU, ER, or Ward is an added advantage.
