About this role
- Provide accurate and timely interpretation between Bengali, Hindi, and English for patients, attendants, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
- Assist patients in communicating their concerns, symptoms, requirements, and questions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Translate verbal and written information related to OPD services, appointments, investigations, procedures, instructions, and hospital processes.
- Assist doctors and clinical staff in communicating medical instructions and information to patients in their preferred language.
- Explain hospital procedures, registration processes, appointment details, diagnostic instructions, and other non-clinical information clearly to patients.
- Support patients who have difficulty understanding English or the local language.
- Assist in translating patient information, forms, consent-related documents, educational material, notices, and other documents when required and within the scope of the role.
- Ensure that translations and interpretations are accurate, clear, culturally appropriate, and easy for patients to understand.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, medical records, and all communications.
- Avoid adding, omitting, or altering information while interpreting or translating.
- Immediately clarify any ambiguity or misunderstanding between the patient and healthcare professional.
- Assist patients in navigating various OPD services and direct them to the appropriate department or service area.
- Coordinate with Front Office, Registration, Nursing, Billing, Diagnostics, Pharmacy, and other departments when language assistance is required.
- Support patient relations activities and help improve the overall patient experience.
- Assist elderly patients, patients with limited literacy, and attendants who require additional communication support.
- Help communicate emergency or time-sensitive information promptly to the concerned clinical team.
- Maintain appropriate records of translation/interpretation requests where required.
- Participate in patient education and awareness activities by assisting with language-specific communication materials.
- Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards, confidentiality requirements, and service protocols.
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity while interacting with patients and their families.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the reporting manager.
