Job Summary : Job Description – CMDB Architect & CMDB Admin (L3+ Roles) This job description is derived from Burlington MNS SOW Configuration Management scope and outlines L3+ responsibilities for CMDB Architect and CMDB Administrator roles within the ServiceNow ecosystem. CMDB Architect Key Responsibilities • Define CMDB architecture, data model, CI classes, attributes, and relationships aligned with network infrastructure • Establish governance for Configuration Management processes including CI lifecycle and data quality • Design and oversee integration between ServiceNow CMDB and Burlington tools ecosystem • Ensure end-to-end alignment of CMDB with Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request processes • Define policies for CI onboarding, updates, and decommissioning using RFC-controlled mechanisms • Lead CMDB audit framework including periodic validation, reconciliation, and compliance tracking • Drive automation strategy including discovery tools and data synchronization • Define naming conventions, taxonomy, and standardization across all Configuration Items • Provide strategic oversight for CMDB data quality, completeness, and accuracy • Support reporting, analytics, and executive dashboards for infrastructure and service mapping CMDB Administrator Key Responsibilities • Maintain CMDB data in ServiceNow through automated discovery and manual updates as required • Create, update, and maintain Configuration Items (CIs) including relationships and attributes • Ensure updates based on Incident, Change, Preventative Maintenance, and Service Request processes • Track lifecycle of all assets including deployment, changes, and decommissioning • Perform CI reconciliation and validate actual vs CMDB data discrepancies • Execute periodic audits and ensure compliance with defined governance standards • Maintain network circuit inventory, spare inventory, and associated CI details • Ensure proper documentation including topology diagrams and configuration records • Enforce naming conventions and ensure only authorized CIs are entered in CMDB • Support audit teams by providing CMDB data and reports Required Skills & Experience (Applicable to both roles) • Strong experience in ServiceNow CMDB and ITSM modules • Good understanding of ITIL framework (Configuration, Change, Incident Management) • Experience with discovery tools and CMDB integrations • Strong understanding of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SDWAN, security devices) • Data modeling, governance, and process optimization skills • Experience in audit, compliance, and reporting • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
