About this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the OT, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables before scheduled procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures as required.
  • Arrange and check surgical instruments, gowns, drapes, sutures, implants, and other OT supplies.
  • Ensure proper sterilization, disinfection, handling, and storage of surgical instruments.
  • Maintain OT equipment and promptly report malfunction or damage.
  • Assist with patient positioning and safe transfer to and from the operating table.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and follow infection-prevention protocols.
  • Check availability of emergency equipment, oxygen, suction, cautery, and other essential equipment.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of surgical sets and instrument trays.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, instruments, consumables, sterilization, and OT checklists.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste according to hospital policy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the OT before and between surgical cases.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, CSSD, housekeeping, and other departments.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate stock of OT consumables and report shortages to the OT In-Charge.
  • Follow hospital policies, safety standards, infection-control procedures, and departmental protocols.
  • Perform other OT-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification

  • Diploma / B.Sc. inΒ Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Relevant certification in OT Technology will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Freshers can be considered for entry-level positions.
  • Previous experience in a hospital operation theatre is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of OT procedures and surgical instruments.
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection-control practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure during emergency and major surgical procedures.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
