Technician- Cardiology

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and identify patients scheduled for TMT and verify relevant clinical information.

• Explain the TMT procedure to patients and obtain appropriate consent as per hospital protocol.

• Assess and record baseline vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and resting ECG.

• Prepare the patient for the test by correctly placing ECG electrodes and ensuring good signal quality.

• Operate the TMT machine and treadmill according to the prescribed protocol and cardiologist's instructions.

• Continuously monitor ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, symptoms, and patient response during the test.

• Immediately inform the cardiologist of significant ECG changes, abnormal symptoms, or vital-sign changes.

• Stop or assist in terminating the test when instructed by the cardiologist or when established safety criteria are met.

• Be prepared to provide immediate assistance during emergencies and follow hospital emergency protocols.

• Maintain accurate records of TMT observations, exercise stages, vitals, symptoms, and test completion.

• Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of ECG leads, electrodes, treadmill, and related equipment.

• Check equipment functionality before procedures and report technical faults promptly.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies, infection-control standards, and safety procedures.

• Coordinate with cardiologists, nurses, technicians, and other departments for smooth patient flow.

• Maintain adequate stock of electrodes, ECG paper, disposables, and other TMT-related supplies.

• Assist with ECG/Holter or other cardiology investigations if assigned and appropriately trained.
