Job Description

 4.0 Assessment of oncology patients on admission 

 4.1 Detailed history taking and Physical examination. 

 4.2 Responsible for sending the patient for the appropriate investigation before chemotherapy and other procedures directed by the primary consultant and also to assist in the investigations, which are urgent. 

4.3 He/ she is to complete the In-Patient rounds everyday.

4.4 Assisting for initiating treatment to the chemotherapy patient, under the supervision of the consultant.

 4.5 To ascertain that the necessary cross referrals have been made. To communicate the opinion of other specialists to the primary consultant

4.6 To check the dosage, frequency, route of administrations of all medications, including chemotherapy considering all precautions as per SOP.

 4.7 To take appropriate and urgent initiatives in Medical Emergencies when required.

 4.8 Preparation of discharge summaries well in time and briefing the patient about the medications on discharge.

4.9 Follow hospital practices and demonstrate initiative aligned to ensuring the safest possible environment for patients and staff.

4.10 To attend all clinical meetings and work shops and actively participate in paper presentations.

4.11 To be part of training programme conducted in the hospital and to take continuous initiatives for knowledge and skill upgradation.

 4.12 To participate in Medical camps when required.

 4.13 To participate in department specific initiatives and ensure Department and Quality safety indicators are maintained.

4.14 To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.

4.15 To adhere to the safety norms of hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules.

4.16 To carry out and complete any job / task as and when assigned by the superior

4.17 The Staff has to comply to all six IPSGs:-

  • Identify patients correctly.
  • Improve effective communication.
  • Improve the safety of high alert medications.
  • Ensure safe surgery.
  • Reduce the risk of health care associated infections.
  • Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting falls.

4.18 The staff has to participate in all Quality Improvement and Departmental Quality Activities.

4.19 The staff has to provide appropriate information of incident or Event through Incident Report reporting system.

4.20 The staff has to participate in organization wide safety culture measure.
