Job Summary
A Senior OT Technician is a senior-level paramedical professional responsible for the smooth daily operations of surgical and recovery units. Beyond standard technical assistance, a senior role includes supervising junior technicians, managing high-value equipment inventory, and ensuring total adherence to safety and sterilization standards.
- Leadership & Supervision: Orient and train new staff, supervise junior OT technicians and assistants, and manage duty rosters.
- Pre-Operative Preparation: Set up, check, and calibrate advanced surgical, monitoring, and anesthesia equipment (such as C-arm, ventilators, and defibrillators).ย
- Intra-Operative Support: Assist the surgical team by maintaining the sterile field, handing instruments, and monitoring patient parameters.
- Inventory & Record Management: Maintain strict usage and stock registers for controlled drugs, expensive narcotics, and specialized surgical sets.
- Sterilization & Infection Control: Oversee high-speed autoclaving units and ensure biomedical waste protocols are strictly followed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT).
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on hospital experience in an operation theatre environment.
- Core Skills: Advanced equipment troubleshooting, strong leadership, thorough knowledge of anatomy/aseptic techniques, and basic computer literacy.
