About this role

  • Provide 24×7 clinical care and monitoring of critically ill patients.

  • Conduct initial assessment and formulate management plans for ICU patients.

  • Manage patients requiring:

    • Mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation

    • Hemodynamic monitoring and vasopressor support

    • Sepsis and septic shock management

    • Acute respiratory, renal, cardiac, and neurological emergencies

    • Post-operative and trauma critical care

  • Perform or assist with ICU procedures such as:

    • Endotracheal intubation

    • Central venous catheterization

    • Arterial line placement

    • Pleural procedures and other approved bedside procedures

  • Review investigations, interpret ABGs, imaging, ECGs, and relevant laboratory results.

  • Participate in emergency resuscitation and Code Blue/CPR.

  • Conduct daily ICU rounds with Consultants and the multidisciplinary team.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, treatment orders, and patient records.

  • Communicate effectively with patients' relatives regarding clinical status, investigations, and treatment plans as directed by the Consultant.

  • Ensure adherence to infection-control, patient-safety, antibiotic-stewardship, and hospital protocols.

  • Supervise and guide junior residents/interns and coordinate with nursing and allied healthcare staff.

  • Participate in academic activities, case discussions, audits, CME programs, and research.

  • Ensure appropriate handover during shift changes.

Eligibility

  • MBBS from a recognized medical institution.

  • MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care Medicine, as per the institution's recruitment rules.

  • Valid registration with the applicable State Medical Council/NMC.

  • ICU/critical-care experience is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

  • Competence in airway management and mechanical ventilation.

  • Knowledge of hemodynamic stabilization and critical-care protocols.

  • Ability to manage emergencies calmly and efficiently.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work in rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and ICU documentation.
