About this role

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with spinal disorders in outpatient clinics, emergency services, and inpatient settings.

  • Assist in and progressively participate in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine procedures under consultant supervision.

  • Gain exposure to:

    • Degenerative spine surgery

    • Spinal trauma

    • Cervical and lumbar decompression

    • Instrumented spinal fusion

    • Minimally invasive spine surgery

    • Adult spinal deformity

    • Complex/revision spine surgery

    • Spinal infections and tumors

  • Participate in pre-operative planning, surgical decision-making, and post-operative care.

  • Conduct ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary patient management.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and operative records.

  • Participate in emergency spine care and on-call duties as required.

  • Attend departmental meetings, journal clubs, case discussions, and teaching sessions.

  • Participate in clinical research, audits, presentations, and academic publications.

Eligibility

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.

  • MS/DNB in Orthopaedics or equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification.

  • Candidates with prior exposure to spine surgery will be preferred.

  • Appropriate medical registration as required by the relevant regulatory authority.

Training & Exposure

The fellow will receive supervised exposure to operative spine surgery, outpatient spine practice, inpatient management, surgical planning, imaging interpretation, and academic/research activities, with increasing responsibility based on competence and institutional policies.
