About this role

1. Testing & Commissioning Planning:

Develop and implement project-specific Testing & Commissioning (T&C) plans for all electrical systems.

Review approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and vendor documentation prior to commencement of commissioning activities.

Prepare commissioning schedules, procedures, testing checklists, and inspection formats.

Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, and project teams to ensure readiness of systems for testing and commissioning.


2. Pre-Commissioning Activities:

Ensure completion of installation inspections and verification of electrical systems before energization.

Coordinate pre-commissioning activities such as cable continuity tests, insulation resistance tests, earth resistance tests, and equipment inspections.

Verify completion of punch points affecting commissioning activities.

Ensure calibration validity of all testing instruments and equipment.


3. Testing & Commissioning Execution:

Coordinate and witness testing and commissioning of:


  • Transformers
  • HV/LV Switchgear
  • RMU Systems
  • Busbar Trunking Systems
  • LV Panels and MDBs
  • UPS Systems
  • Battery Systems
  • Diesel Generators
  • Lighting & Small Power Systems
  • Earthing & Lightning Protection Systems
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Emergency Lighting Systems
  • HVAC Electrical Systems
  • BMS and EPMS Integrated Systems

Conduct functional performance testing and system validation as per project requirements.

Monitor energization activities and ensure safe execution of electrical testing works.


4. Coordination & Communication:

Act as a liaison between consultant, client, subcontractors, vendors, specialist commissioning agencies, and project management teams.

Coordinate multidisciplinary testing activities involving HVAC, Fire Fighting, ELV, Plumbing, and BMS systems.

Attend commissioning meetings and provide updates on testing progress, issues, and action plans.

Coordinate with vendors for equipment start-up, testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification.


5. Deficiency & Punch List Management:

Identify testing deficiencies, non-compliance issues, and system faults during commissioning activities.

Prepare punch lists and monitor timely closure of all commissioning-related observations.

Coordinate corrective actions with construction and vendor teams.

Maintain records of punch points and report status to management.


6. Quality Compliance & Verification:

Ensure testing and commissioning activities comply with approved ITPs, project specifications, and industry standards.

Verify compliance with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, IS Standards, local authority requirements, and client specifications.

Ensure all inspections and approvals are obtained before system acceptance.

Support QA/QC teams during inspections, audits, and client reviews.


7. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain complete testing and commissioning records for all electrical systems.

Prepare and submit:


  • Pre-Commissioning Reports
  • Testing Reports
  • Energization Reports
  • Functional Test Reports
  • Integrated System Test Reports
  • Commissioning Certificates
  • Final Handover Documentation

Maintain commissioning dossiers and turnover packages.

Ensure all reports are approved and properly filed for project closeout.


8. Safety & Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements during all testing and commissioning activities.

Implement Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during testing and energization works.

Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments before major commissioning activities.

Promote safe working practices and ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations.


9. Final Handover & Project Closeout:

Coordinate final inspections with clients, consultants, and authorities.

Support preparation of As-Built Drawings, O&M Manuals, and Training Documentation.

Ensure all testing records, approvals, and commissioning documents are completed for project handover.

Obtain final acceptance and handover sign-off from client and consultant.


10. Continuous Improvement:

Provide technical support and guidance to site engineers and commissioning teams.

Identify opportunities to improve commissioning procedures and system performance.

Conduct lessons learned sessions and share best practices across project teams.

Support training and development of junior engineers and site personnel.
