About this role

  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments based on patients' medical conditions, functional limitations, and rehabilitation requirements.
  • Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans in consultation with the treating physician and multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Provide physiotherapy services to inpatients, outpatients, ICU, emergency, and post-operative patients as clinically indicated.
  • Perform appropriate therapeutic interventions including therapeutic exercises, mobility training, strengthening, stretching, and functional rehabilitation.
  • Provide pain management interventions using appropriate physiotherapy modalities within the scope of professional practice.
  • Assist patients in improving mobility, balance, coordination, muscle strength, flexibility, and functional independence.
  • Provide early mobilization and rehabilitation for critically ill and post-operative patients in coordination with the ICU and clinical teams.
  • Conduct respiratory physiotherapy for patients requiring airway clearance, breathing exercises, chest physiotherapy, and pulmonary rehabilitation as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide post-operative rehabilitation following orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, thoracic, abdominal, and other surgical procedures as applicable.
  • Assess and provide rehabilitation for patients with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, geriatric, and sports-related conditions.
  • Assist patients with gait training, transfer training, balance exercises, use of mobility aids, and functional activities.
  • Provide rehabilitation support to patients recovering from stroke, neurological disorders, spinal conditions, and other functional impairments.
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding prescribed exercises, positioning, mobility, posture, precautions, and home-based rehabilitation programs.
  • Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response and functional improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, daily therapy sessions, progress notes, and discharge recommendations.
  • Coordinate with consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, psychologists, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case discussions for patients requiring rehabilitation services.
  • Conduct pre- and post-treatment assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions.
  • Ensure appropriate use, cleaning, maintenance, and safe operation of physiotherapy equipment and modalities.
  • Follow hospital policies and protocols related to patient safety, infection prevention and control, clinical documentation, and quality standards.
  • Identify contraindications, precautions, and clinical risks before initiating physiotherapy interventions and escalate concerns to the treating physician when required.
  • Assist in fall-prevention initiatives, mobility programs, early rehabilitation protocols, and other hospital-wide patient safety initiatives.
  • Provide physiotherapy services in accordance with professional ethics, hospital guidelines, and applicable statutory and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in quality-improvement activities, clinical audits, research projects, case presentations, and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure secure handling of medical and rehabilitation records.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers regarding the importance of treatment adherence, rehabilitation, exercise, and preventive care.
  • Support discharge planning by providing appropriate home exercise programs, mobility recommendations, and follow-up advice.
  • Participate in health camps, community outreach programs, awareness programs, and preventive healthcare activities as required.
  • Maintain continuous professional development by staying updated on current physiotherapy techniques, evidence-based practices, rehabilitation protocols, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform any other clinical or departmental responsibilities assigned by the HOD – Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Head, Clinical Head, or Hospital Management.
