Clinical Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machine during cardiac surgeries.
- Prepare and prime the heart-lung machine and related equipment before procedures.
- Monitor blood flow, oxygenation, blood gases, anticoagulation status, and patient physiological parameters during surgery.
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists in procedures requiring extracorporeal circulation.
- Manage cell saver systems and blood conservation techniques.
- Support ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) initiation, maintenance, and monitoring when applicable.
- Handle intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and ventricular assist devices (VADs) as required.
