The Real Estate Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following post that is to be assigned to the upcoming Real Estate Authority of Jamaica (REAJ):
Paralegal Officer (Level 5)
Vacant Post – Three-year contract
Salary Range: $2,190,302 - $2,945,713 per annum
Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Senior Legal Officer, the Paralegal Officer plays a crucial role in establishing and maintaining efficient systems that support Legal Officers in their work, particularly in the critical area of housing-related legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management and File Preparation:
- Organizing and maintaining case files for hearings, investigations, and litigation.
- Collating and indexing evidentiary documents.
Legal Drafting and Research:
- Assisting attorneys in preparing affidavits, submissions, and standard contracts.
- Conducting supervised legal research to support opinions and case strategies.
Hearing and Litigation Support:
- Preparing bundles and exhibits for Disciplinary Committee hearings and court appearances.
- Recording minutes and maintaining accurate documentation of proceedings.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitoring deadlines for statutory filings, Access to Information requests, and court submissions.
- Supporting attorneys in ensuring compliance with provisions of the Real Estate Act, PBMA, and other relevant laws.
Administrative Efficiency:
- Preparation of Legal Committee Meeting Minutes for the following departments (REB/CSC and Audit).
- Providing transcription, scheduling, and correspondence management.
- Reducing the volume of routine clerical work currently handled by attorneys.

Minimum Education & Experience:
- Relevant training or qualification in legal or paralegal studies.
- A minimum of five (5) CSEC subjects, including English Language.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a law office or legal setting.
