Lead, Network and System

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implementation and Support of Computing & Network Services

   • Proactively manage and administer robust, high-availability network and servers supporting production applications. 

   • Recommend, collaborate, and support adherence to Corporate IT standards, policies, and procedures in accordance with best practices. 

   • Implement and support systems and network solutions according to Coherent Corp standards, policies and procedures, and industry best practices. 

   • Collaborate with the Corporate IT organization and the Asia IT organizations on the delivery and support of the global infrastructure and on Vietnam initiatives. Assist the Local System and Network admins on best practice techniques for design, implementation, management, and operations. 

   • Collaborate with outside vendors to provide systems and infrastructure support to the environment. 

   • Implement and maintain high availability features and disaster recovery plans to ensure network infrastructure resiliency and recoverability. 

   • Create and maintain design and configuration documentation and service records

2. Project Management and Coordination

   • Develop, coordinate, and manage multiple concurrent activities and projects. Meet project schedules/milestones. Delivers timely solutions within budgetary constraints and consistent with company standards. 

   • Conduct thorough research and evaluation on Information Technology projects or products to justify recommendation.

   • Effectively communicate project expectations - scope, goals, deliverables, plans, issues – to team members and project stakeholders. Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve project issues.

3. Service Delivery

   • Administrate and support of Network, Servers, Security and Desktops. 

   • Manage the availability, performance, and capacity of the services. 

   • Provide local end-user support on a timely basis and in accordance with organization standards. 

   • Frequent / appropriate communication to user/help desk, management, and team members as to the status of problems/issues. Update help desk documentation following resolution of problems. 

   • Recommend and adhere to department procedures, consistent with legal and statutory requirements and with industry best practices.

4. Infrastructure Security and Integrity

   • Maintain the integrity of the computing and networking environment through appropriate backup strategies, vital record storage, and system security measures including:

     • Managing the security controls protecting the network, servers, and computing services. 

     • Ensuring up to date versions of mal-ware (Antivirus, Spam Controls)

   • Provide ongoing analysis of infrastructure for optimal operation, integrity, and stability. Define and implement effective operating procedures. 

   • Maintain disaster recovery capabilities to assure infrastructure recoverability. Periodically validate recovery procedures and maintain up to date procedures. 

   • Ensure site-wide compliance to regulatory controls and corporate IT policies/practices:

     • COHERENT IT Framework controls and polices. 

     • Licensed software use and reproduction. Security Change Management

5. Supervision, Management and Leadership

   • Ensure your team is staffed, motivated, inspired, engaged and empowered to deliver a high and sustainable performance level in an ever-changing environment at a cost level the organization can sustain and reflects market realities. 

   • Ensure you have the right people in the right jobs, by consistently using proper interview and selection techniques and methodologies throughout your organization. 

   • Ensure a learning environment is in place and your team is trained and developed to consistently achieve your organization’s expectations in both the short and long terms.

   • Ensure the Performance Management Process is fully operating with meaningful stretch goals for all employees in your organization, that feedback is on-going and focused on development and done with 100% On Time Delivery. 

   • Ensure a free flow of two-way information for your organization to work effectively and communication channels are active and open. 

   • Ensure an accident-free environment by following all EH&S policies and procedures, maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment and openly endorsing and creating an attitude that all accidents are preventable within your sphere of influence. 

   • Ensure the spirit and intent of all employment laws and regulations and II-VI and local HR policies and procedures are understood and complied with in your area.

 

Education & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in network and system management and administration with 1+ years managerial/leadership experience. MCSE and Cisco certification desired.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related specializations.

 

Skills

• Strong knowledge of network operating systems, (Windows Server) and data communication protocols and technologies.

• Demonstrated project planning, project management, documentation, problem-solving and work prioritization skills.

• Excellent customer service skills including telephone techniques, listening skills, sense of urgency and enthusiasm.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with end-users and management.

• Good command of spoken and written Vietnamese and English. · Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated.

• Familiarity with administration and support of voice communications.

• Culturally sensitive – values diversity, able to understand and cooperate with other team members from different cultures.

• Willing to travel, internationally and domestically.

 

Working Conditions

• Works in standard office/manufacturing environment.
