Junior Legal Advisor

To provide legal, regulatory, governance, and corporate affairs support to the Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager by  assisting with contract management, compliance monitoring, corporate governance activities, stakeholder engagement, and legal research. The role ensures that the company's operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies under the supervision and direction of the Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager.

Principal Accountabilities: 

Legal Advisory & Contract Management

• Conduct legal research and provide advice on regulatory, commercial, and operational matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, policies, and legal documentation.
• Support litigation, dispute resolution, and engagement with external legal counsel.
• Monitor legislative developments and assess legal risks and business impacts.
• Maintain legal records, contract databases, and corporate documentation.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Support compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
• Assist with compliance audits, internal reviews, and risk assessments.
• Identify and escalate legal and regulatory risks, recommending mitigation measures.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.

Corporate Governance

• Coordinate board, committee, and shareholder meetings.
• Prepare agendas, board packs, resolutions, and meeting minutes.
• Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with governance obligations and reporting requirements.

Corporate Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement

• Support relationships with regulators, government authorities, and industry stakeholders.
• Assist with corporate communications, reputation management, CSR, and sustainability initiatives.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagements, public affairs activities, and corporate events.

Administrative & Reporting Support

• Prepare management reports, legal updates, and risk reports.
• Track contract renewals, compliance obligations, and regulatory deadlines.
• Ensure accurate record keeping and provide general support to the Legal & Corporate Affairs Manager.

This role requires a strong understanding of commercial law, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management, with the ability to provide practical legal support in a dynamic business environment.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Legal environment

• NQF Level 8 (Degree in BA Law LLB (Admitted Attorney)
• Minimum 2 years  years post qualification legal experience

Advantageous

• Commercial litigation and or contract management experience
• Exposure to corporate governance and company secretarial work
• Postgrad Legal Qualifications (Honours or Masters)/ Higher Diploma in Tax/ Company Law

Exposure to a legal or compliance environment through articles, clerkship or equivalent practical training.
