Job Title: Fire Safety Officer
Department: Operations
Job Purpose
To ensure fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency preparedness measures are implemented and maintained across the hospital/facility, ensuring compliance with statutory fire safety regulations and organizational safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fire Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with State Fire Service regulations, National Building Code (NBC), and other applicable safety standards.
- Maintain valid fire safety licenses, certificates, and records.
Inspection & Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire alarm panels, and emergency exits.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and testing of all fire protection systems.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Organize mock fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Evaluate drill effectiveness and submit reports.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct fire safety induction for new employees.
- Train staff on firefighting equipment usage and evacuation procedures.
- Promote fire safety awareness through campaigns and toolbox talks.
Risk Assessment
- Identify fire hazards and recommend corrective measures.
- Conduct regular fire risk assessments and safety audits.
- Follow up on closure of identified non-compliances.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare reports and recommend preventive actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain fire safety logs, equipment inspection records, and incident reports.
- Submit periodic compliance reports to management.
Coordination
- Liaise with Fire Department, regulatory authorities, contractors, and internal departments.
- Support accreditation requirements such as NABH and other safety audits.
Qualification
- Diploma/Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering or Fire Technology.
- Certification in Fire Safety Management preferred.
- Knowledge of NBC, Fire Safety Acts, and emergency response procedures.
Experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Fire Safety, preferably in hospitals, healthcare facilities, or large commercial establishments.
Skills Required
- Firefighting and emergency response knowledge.
- Risk assessment and safety audit skills.
- Communication and training abilities.
- Incident investigation and report preparation.
- Proficiency in MS Office and documentation.
