Job Summary:
The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for managing environmental clearances, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing environmental management plans for highway projects. The role involves liaising with government authorities, conducting impact assessments, and ensuring adherence to environmental laws and guidelines such as MoEF&CC, NHAI, and CPCB norms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Environmental Clearance & Regulatory Compliance
· Coordinate and obtain Environmental Clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA).
· Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Act, Forest Conservation Act, Water & Air Acts, and EIA Notification (2006 & Amendments).
· Prepare and submit applications for Forest Clearance (FC), Wildlife Clearance (WC), and CRZ Clearance if required.
· Conduct liaison with regulatory bodies such as MoEF&CC, CPCB, SPCB, NHAI, and State PWD.
2. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & EMP Implementation
· Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for highway projects.
· Prepare Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and ensure on-site implementation.
· Conduct baseline studies on air quality, water quality, noise levels, soil conditions, and biodiversity.
· Develop mitigation plans for noise pollution, dust control, water runoff, and ecological protection.
3. Site Audits, Monitoring & Reporting
· Conduct regular environmental audits and site inspections to ensure compliance with EMP and EC conditions.
· Monitor and report ambient air quality, noise levels, and water discharge as per CPCB/SPCB guidelines.
· Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to regulatory authorities.
· Ensure proper waste management and pollution control measures at construction sites.
4. Liaison & Stakeholder Coordination
· Coordinate with consultants, contractors, government officials, and environmental agencies for approvals and compliance.
· Assist in public hearings and stakeholder consultations as part of the EIA process.
· Engage with local communities and address environmental concerns related to the project.
5. Sustainability & Green Initiatives
· Promote sustainable construction practices such as rainwater harvesting, afforestation, and carbon footprint reduction.
· Identify and implement energy-efficient and eco-friendly road construction methods.
· Develop biodiversity conservation strategies for sensitive areas impacted by the project.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
✅ Education:
· B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
✅ Experience:
· years of experience in environmental clearances, compliance, and impact assessments for highway projects.
· Familiarity with MoEF&CC, CPCB, NHAI, and SPCB guidelines.
✅ Technical & Regulatory Knowledge:
· Strong knowledge of EIA, EMP, EC, FC, and environmental laws.
· Experience in handling GIS mapping, hydrological studies, and biodiversity assessments.
✅ Software Proficiency:
· AutoCAD, GIS, MS Office, Environmental Monitoring Software.
✅ Soft Skills:
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
✔ Certification in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), ISO 14001, or Sustainability Management.
✔ Experience in PPP, BOT, EPC highway projects.
