Commissioning Manager - Wind

Key Responsibilities

Project Commissioning Management

• Lead and manage commissioning activities for wind farm projects from pre-commissioning through final handover.
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure all commissioning milestones are achieved within project timelines and budgets.
• Monitor project progress and proactively address commissioning challenges.

Wind Turbine Commissioning

• Oversee mechanical and electrical completion inspections of wind turbine generators.
• Manage turbine energization, functional testing, performance testing, and reliability runs.
• Coordinate with turbine OEMs during commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
• Verify compliance with manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.

Electrical & Grid Compliance

• Manage commissioning of substations, transformers, MV/HV systems, SCADA systems, and transmission infrastructure.
• Coordinate grid synchronization activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review protection settings, relay testing, and power quality requirements.
• Support grid code compliance testing and certification activities.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure all commissioning activities are executed in accordance with company HSE policies and project safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, and method statement reviews.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure zero-harm objectives are maintained.
• Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Review commissioning procedures, test records, and completion certificates.
• Ensure punch list items are tracked and closed before project handover.
• Maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation and reports.
• Support final acceptance testing (FAC) and project turnover to operations teams.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for commissioning matters.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, utility authorities, and OEM representatives.
• Provide regular progress updates and commissioning reports to project leadership.
• Participate in project review meetings and technical discussions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline.
• Professional certifications in commissioning, project management, or HSE are preferred.
• Membership in relevant engineering bodies is an advantage.

Experience Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in renewable energy projects.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning management of utility-scale wind power projects.
• Hands-on experience with wind turbine commissioning from major OEMs such as Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Nordex, Senvion, Goldwind, or Envision.
• Experience in substation commissioning, transmission systems, SCADA, and grid integration.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale wind farm projects.

Technical Skills

• Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) commissioning.
• Electrical testing and commissioning.
• HV/MV substation systems.
• SCADA and communication systems.
• Grid code compliance and synchronization.
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Project scheduling and resource planning.
