Job Description: Assistant Manager – QA/QC

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager – QA/QC is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality control activities. The role ensures that processes, products, services, documentation, and deliverables comply with established organizational standards, applicable regulations, customer expectations, and approved quality requirements.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the position supports the prevention of quality issues, identification of non-conformities, implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and maintenance of a consistent quality management system. The Assistant Manager – QA/QC also contributes to audits, inspections, reporting, process improvement initiatives, and the development of a strong quality-focused culture.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance procedures, processes, and standards.
  • Support the establishment and review of quality objectives, inspection plans, checklists, and control procedures.
  • Ensure that operational activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of quality processes and recommend improvements where required.
  • Promote preventive quality practices to minimize defects, rework, process variation, and customer complaints.
  • Support the review and updating of quality manuals, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and related documentation.

Quality Control and Inspection

  • Coordinate and monitor inspection, testing, verification, and validation activities across relevant operational areas.
  • Review work outputs, materials, products, services, and project deliverables for conformity with defined requirements.
  • Ensure that quality control records, inspection reports, test results, and compliance documentation are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Identify deviations, defects, and non-conformities and ensure timely reporting to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support root-cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and track open quality issues through closure.

Audits and Compliance

  • Assist in planning and conducting internal quality audits, process audits, supplier audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, customers, suppliers, and regulatory representatives during inspections and audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, findings, observations, and closure reports.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable quality standards, contractual requirements, statutory obligations, and internal policies.
  • Ensure that audit findings and improvement opportunities are communicated to responsible teams and followed up appropriately.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and traceable quality records in accordance with document-control requirements.
  • Review and manage non-conformance reports, deviation requests, inspection reports, corrective action reports, and quality-related records.
  • Prepare periodic quality performance reports covering key metrics, trends, defects, audit findings, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality data to identify recurring issues, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Present quality performance updates and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.

Team Coordination and Continuous Improvement

  • Guide and coordinate QA/QC personnel in the execution of inspection, testing, audit, and documentation activities.
  • Provide coaching and technical support to team members and operational departments on quality requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate with production, operations, engineering, procurement, supply chain, project, and customer-facing teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Support training and awareness programs to improve understanding of quality standards, procedures, and responsibilities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, process optimization, risk reduction, and defect-prevention initiatives.
  • Encourage a culture of accountability, compliance, customer focus, and continual improvement.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Science, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in quality assurance, quality control, inspection, compliance, or process improvement, preferably in a supervisory or team-coordination capacity.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methodologies, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and audit processes.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and document-control practices.
  • Ability to interpret procedures, specifications, inspection criteria, test results, technical documents, and quality records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Experience preparing quality reports, audit documentation, non-conformance records, and corrective action plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or comparable business and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, coordination, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
