Job Description – Assistant Clinical Nurse
Position: Assistant Clinical Nurse
Department: Clinical / Nursing
Reports To: Nursing In-charge / Nurse Manager / Clinical Head
Location: Hospital / Healthcare Facility
Job Purpose
To provide safe, compassionate and quality nursing care to patients under the supervision of senior nursing staff, while supporting clinical operations, maintaining patient safety standards and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and nursing protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients as per prescribed treatment plans and hospital protocols.
Monitor and record patients' vital signs, clinical condition and changes in health status.
Assist doctors and senior nurses during examinations, procedures and treatments.
Administer medications and treatments as instructed and in accordance with approved protocols.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records, nursing notes and clinical documentation.
Assist with patient admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
Ensure proper identification of patients and follow medication and patient-safety protocols.
Support infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
Maintain cleanliness, safety and readiness of the nursing station, patient areas and clinical equipment.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene and nutritional needs where required.
Educate patients and attendants regarding basic care instructions, medication compliance and follow-up requirements.
Escalate any deterioration in the patient's condition or clinical concerns promptly to the senior nurse/doctor.
Assist in maintaining adequate stock of medicines, consumables and nursing supplies.
Follow hospital policies, SOPs, clinical guidelines and statutory requirements.
Participate in emergency response, patient safety initiatives, audits and quality improvement activities.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with organizational privacy and ethical standards.
Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, technicians and other healthcare professionals.
Perform other clinical and nursing-related responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registration: Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council, as applicable.
Experience: Freshers or candidates with relevant hospital/clinical experience may be considered, depending on the department requirements.
