JOB DESCRIPTION – STAFF NURSE

3. Job Summary

Responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and quality nursing care to patients in accordance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and clinical protocols.

4. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients as per the prescribed treatment plan.

• Monitor and record patients' vital signs and clinical condition.

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.

• Assist doctors during procedures, examinations, and emergency situations.

• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and patient records.

• Assess patients and promptly report any changes in their condition to the concerned doctor/senior nurse.

• Follow infection prevention and control practices.

• Ensure proper identification of patients before medications, procedures, and investigations.

• Maintain patient safety and follow hospital safety protocols.

• Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.

• Educate patients and their attendants regarding medication, treatment, diet, and discharge instructions.

• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of medical equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe environment in the patient care area.

• Coordinate effectively with doctors, nursing staff, laboratory, pharmacy, and other departments.

• Participate in shift handovers and communicate important patient information.

• Follow hospital policies, NABH standards, and nursing protocols.

• Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing nursing education.

• Handle emergency situations and provide appropriate nursing interventions.

5. Qualification

• B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM

• Valid Nursing Registration Certificate from the respective State Nursing Council.

6. Experience

• Freshers and experienced candidates may be considered, depending on the department and vacancy.

• Relevant hospital experience will be an added advantage.
