Job Summary
This is a senior-level Virtualization and Windows Infrastructure Engineering position with a primary focus on Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, and enterprise virtualization platforms. This position serves as a subject matter expert responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of the organization\'s global Hyper-V infrastructure supporting business-critical manufacturing and enterprise workloads. The role requires deep technical expertise in Hyper-V Failover Clustering, SCVMM, Windows Server, enterprise storage systems, backup and recovery technologies, and virtualization platform lifecycle management. The successful candidate will be a major contributor within a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineering team and is expected to leverage their extensive experience to provide value from day one through both hands-on technical execution and strategic platform improvements. This position works closely with cross-functional IT teams to ensure virtualization and infrastructure platforms remain secure, reliable, scalable, and operationally efficient while continuously driving best practices, automation, standardization, and service resiliency across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include all facets of enterprise virtualization and Windows infrastructure engineering. Duties include: • Architect, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization solutions supporting critical business operations. • Manage and support Hyper-V Failover Clusters, SCVMM, Windows Server hosts, and related virtualization technologies, including lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, and hardware refresh activities. • Configure and maintain virtualization services including Live Migration, Storage Migration, and Cluster-Aware Updating to ensure high availability and operational efficiency. • Administer enterprise storage, backup, recovery, and business continuity solutions, including Dell SAN platforms, Veeam backup infrastructure, recovery testing, disaster recovery exercises, and restoration activities. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure issues across virtualization, Windows Server, storage, and backup platforms while ensuring platform stability, performance, and availability. • Develop and maintain PowerShell-based automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, consistency, standardization, and service delivery. • Implement security best practices, system hardening standards, and vulnerability remediation activities to maintain a secure infrastructure environment. • Collaborate with server, storage, network, security, and application teams to support enterprise initiatives, projects, and operational objectives. • Mentor engineering team members, provide technical leadership, serve as a senior escalation resource, and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.
Skill Requirements
10+ years of Windows Server administration and engineering, including the design, implementation, support, and lifecycle management of enterprise Hyper-V virtualization platforms. • 10+ years managing highly available Microsoft Hyper-V environments, including Failover Clustering, platform migrations, upgrades, Live Migration, Storage Migration, and Cluster-Aware Updating. • 8+ years of experience with System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). • 10+ years of experience with enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including Veeam, backup strategy design, recovery procedures, and DR testing. • Experience administering SAN-attached virtualization environments supporting business-critical enterprise infrastructure. • Strong knowledge of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and operational best practices. • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience, along with advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills. • Experience developing technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures, with strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple technical disciplines.
Other Requirements
Administration of Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell PowerVault storage, and related enterprise storage technologies. • Fiber Channel fabrics, virtualization replication, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency planning. • Support of Ubuntu Linux guest operating systems in virtualized environments. • Experience in global enterprise environments supporting manufacturing or other mission-critical workloads.
