About this role

Job Summary

The HCX Engineer is responsible for managing VMware environments and supporting migration activities using VMware HCX. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure virtualization infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, including GCVE where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, VMs, storage, networking). Perform HCX migrations from on-premises or cloud environments. Design and implement scalable and highly available VMware infrastructure. Automate infrastructure tasks using PowerCLI, Python, or other tools. Implement and manage VMware vSAN and storage solutions. Configure and manage VMware NSX components (if applicable). Troubleshoot and resolve VMware-related issues. Perform capacity planning and performance tuning. Implement security best practices within VMware environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration. Deploy and manage GCVE environments (if applicable). Integrate on-prem VMware with GCVE. Manage GCVE networking and security configurations. Participate in on-call support as required. Maintain documentation of configurations and processes. Stay updated with latest VMware and GCVE technologies.

Skill Requirements

7+ years of experience in VMware vSphere administration. Strong knowledge of vSphere architecture and components. Expertise in vCenter Server management. Strong understanding and hands-on experience with VMware HCX. Experience with VMware vSAN or similar storage solutions. Good knowledge of networking concepts and NSX (if applicable). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Other Requirements

Experience with Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) is an added advantage. Exposure to hybrid cloud and on-prem to cloud integration. Knowledge of other virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, KVM). Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience with IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible. VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP) preferred. Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions. Experience with monitoring and logging tools. Ability to work independently and handle responsibilities efficiently.
