Key Responsibilities

Linux Systems Engineering: Design, build, and maintain highly scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise Linux server fleets across bare-metal, virtualised, and cloud environments.Kernel & Performance Tuning: Act as the final escalation tier for deep OS-level troubleshooting. Troubleshoot complex CPU, memory, I/O bottlenecks, network stack anomalies, and apply specialized kernel modifications (sysctl).Configuration Management & Automation: Build, maintain, and scale Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management pipelines using tools like Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack, or Terraform to eliminate manual overhead.OS Lifecycle & Patch Management: Establish robust, zero-downtime automated OS patch management strategies and image management architectures (e.g., Red Hat Satellite, Canonical Landscape).Security & System Hardening: Implement rigorous OS-level security policies following CIS Benchmarks, build complex SELinux/AppArmor profiles, and manage centralized authentication (SSO, SSSD, LDAP/Kerberos).Storage & File Systems: Architect enterprise-grade storage structures leveraging LVM, software RAID, and advanced distributed/network filesystems (NFS, SMB, GlusterFS, Ceph).

Skill Requirements

Experience: 8+ years of professional experience administering, engineering, and architecting enterprise Linux environments.Distribution Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Enterprise Linux distributions (Red Hat Family / Debian Family) and deep understanding of systemd, boot sequences (GRUB), and package management systems.Advanced Scripting: Mastery of Bash scripting alongside high proficiency in a secondary language such as Python or Go for custom system tooling and automations.Networking Internals: In-depth knowledge of Linux networking stacks, routing, firewalls (iptables, nftables, firewalld), and low-level protocol analysis (tcpdump, wireshark).Virtualization & Container Basics: Strong understanding of Linux cgroups, namespaces, and runtime environments (Docker, Podman, KVM).
