Job Purpose:
To provide safe, compassionate and quality nursing care to patients according to the prescribed treatment plan, hospital policies, nursing standards, infection-control practices and patient-safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess patients and record medical history, symptoms and nursing observations.
2. Monitor and record vital signs and changes in the patient's condition.
3. Administer medications, injections, IV fluids and other prescribed treatments safely.
4. Provide bedside nursing care and maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy.
5. Assist doctors during rounds, procedures, dressing, investigations and emergencies.
6. Perform nursing assessments and implement the nursing care plan.
7. Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication charts, patient records and shift handover.
8. Perform point-of-care tests as required.
9. Monitor intake/output, blood sugar and other relevant clinical parameters.
10. Identify deterioration in patient condition and immediately inform the doctor/nursing in-charge.
11. Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care where applicable.
12. Coordinate patient investigations, consultations, transfers and discharge processes.
13. Educate patients and their attendants regarding medication, treatment, diet, hygiene and precautions.
14. Follow infection prevention, hand hygiene, PPE, biomedical-waste and patient-safety protocols.
15. Operate and maintain nursing equipment properly.
16. Maintain adequate nursing supplies and participate in inventory management.
17. Coordinate with doctors, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology and other hospital departments.
18. Participate in nursing audits, competency assessments, in-service education and quality-improvement activities.
19. Provide proper shift-to-shift handover.
20. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with Apollo Hospital policies.

Qualification

• GNM Nursing / B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing
• Valid Nursing Council registration
• Relevant clinical experience depending on the department
• Basic computer knowledge
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in shifts
