Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients. The nurse will monitor patient condition, administer medications and treatments as prescribed, assist doctors during procedures, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and follow hospital policies related to patient safety and infection control.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and provide proper shift handover for assigned patients.
Assess patients and monitor vital signs, pain, intake/output and general condition.
Administer medicines, injections, IV medications and other treatments as prescribed.
Assist doctors during rounds, examinations, procedures and emergencies.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
Perform wound dressing, catheter care, oxygen therapy and other nursing procedures as required.
Collect, label and send patient specimens for laboratory investigations.
Maintain nursing notes, medication records, observation charts and other patient documentation.
Identify changes or deterioration in a patient's condition and promptly inform the doctor/senior nurse.
Provide personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort and psychological support to patients.
Educate patients and attendants regarding treatment, medication, hygiene and discharge instructions.
Follow infection prevention, biomedical waste management and patient safety protocols.
Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of nursing equipment and supplies.
Check and maintain ward stock, medicines, consumables and emergency equipment.
Assist with patient admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
Participate in hospital quality, training, audit and infection-control activities.
Perform any other nursing duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge or hospital management.
Qualification
GNM or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council.
BLS certification is preferred.
Additional ICU/OT/Emergency certifications may be required for specialized departments.
Experience
Fresher to 3 years of relevant hospital experience may be considered, depending on the department.
ICU/OT/Emergency experience preferred for specialized postings.
