Windows L2 - Windows Server (2008-2022), Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware, SCCM, Failover Clustering, Cloud IaaS (Azure/GCP/AWS), PowerShell.
Key Responsibilities
Windows HCBU (L2) Key Responsibilities: L2 Windows Compute Operations: Provide 24x7 administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance for Windows Server infrastructure across hybrid environments (2,100 Azure VMs, 139 GCP VMs, 295 Datacenter Servers, 152 Regional Servers). Virtualization & OS Support: Manage VM operations across Azure, GCP, and VMware ESXi, handling performance troubleshooting, resource resizing, disk expansion, and OS-level issues. Core Infrastructure Services: Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPO), and File & Print Services across enterprise sites. Patching & Maintenance: Execute OS patching, security vulnerability remediation, and software updates across hybrid Windows instances using automated deployment tools. Incident & Escalation Management: Act as the L2 escalation point for compute alerts (high CPU/Memory, disk space, OS crashes, network connectivity issues); conduct initial Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Backup & Storage Integration: Coordinate with Storage/Backup teams for host-based snapshot restores, volume attachments, and server image management. AIOps & Ticket Management: Process Incidents, Service Requests (SR), and Change Requests (CHG) in alignment with ITIL standards and AIOps event streams.
Skill Requirements
Technical: Windows Administration: 3+ years of L2 hands-on experience in Windows Server OS (2016/2019/2022) management, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and File/Print server management. Cloud & Virtualization: Strong operational experience with Azure Virtual Machines, GCP Compute Engine, and VMware ESXi/vSphere. Scripting: Intermediate PowerShell scripting skills for system automation, batch reporting, and configuration tasks. Troubleshooting: Deep understanding of Windows Event Viewer, Sysinternals tools, performance counters, and OS crash dump analysis. Non-Technical Strong analytical, problem-solving, and operational troubleshooting skills. Proven understanding of ITIL processes (Incident Management, Change Management, Request Fulfillment). Ability to operate effectively in a 24x7 rotational shift roster. Good to Have Skills: Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) for Windows server provisioning. Basic understanding of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments. Exposure to monitoring integration using Splunk, Datadog, or SolarWinds. Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written technical communication skills. Collaborative mindset with the ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams (Network, Security, Storage). Calm under pressure during high-priority server outages.
