About this role

An Introduction to Primer

Primer is the unified infrastructure for global payments. We give finance and payments teams the visibility and control to reduce complexity, improve performance, and capture more revenue - all from a single platform.

Backed by Sofina, Peak XV Partners, ICONIQ, Tencent, Accel, and Balderton, we're building the payments layer the world's best companies rely on.

Which team will you be joining?

In the Orchestration team we build the engine that powers intelligent, seamless, and reliable payments across any provider, method, or market. We own the full orchestration layer: routing decisions, fallback logic, and the smart infrastructure that makes every payment perform at its best.

This team covers everything from checkout and payment processing through to tokenization, authentication, fallback logic, developer tooling, and workflows.

πŸ” What will you be doing?

  • Ship frontend features for checkout and payment processing teams, with support from more senior engineers on scoping and architecture

  • Work in React building the dashboard experience merchants use to onboard with Primer

  • Learn from a hands-on senior frontend engineer who's setting the team's conventions and standards as you go

  • Deploy your own features to production and track their impact once they're live

  • Get real exposure to how a merchant's first experience with Primer is designed and built, working closely with Design

  • Contribute to the Python backend where useful β€” no prior backend experience required, just a willingness to get stuck in when needed

πŸ‘€ What we'd love to see

  • Solid frontend engineering experience, with a track record of independently delivering production-grade work across the full lifecycle.

  • Extensive experience with TypeScript and ideally web components.

  • Comfortable taking on a project, scoping it, planning the architecture, and seeing it through without needing to be directed at each stage.

  • Strong understanding of how to build accessible, performant, maintainable UI at scale, ideally in a context where quality directly affects end users or downstream integrations.

  • Able to contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions and articulate trade-offs clearly.

  • Writes clean, well-tested code that peers would consider high quality and holds yourself to that standard consistently.

  • Understands the user and business context behind the work, not just the technical brief.

  • Communicates clearly and directly, especially in async-first environments.

Nice to have:

  • Experience building SDKs, embeddable components, or developer-facing tooling.

  • Familiarity with payments, checkout flows, or high-availability frontend systems.

βœ… A typical interview process

  • An initial intro call with a Talent Partner

  • An interview with the Hiring Manager

  • Challenge Stage - Contextualised to the role

  • A final, values-alignment interview
