About this role

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The AHA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely.

Responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of information research services, projects and products that meet member and customer needs and support the American Hospital Association (AHA) vision, mission, and objectives. Provide information and access to information for AHA members, partners, staff, and others, using diverse resources.Essential Functions
  • Apply high-level, complex, specialized data and information retrieval skills to analyze and respond to member, staff and nonmember needs for information on diverse topics of varying complexity.
  • Draw on in-depth knowledge of the AHA and health care field, and of print, electronic, and organizational resources to identify, analyze, synthesize, and communicate data and information.
  • Lead in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating AHA Resource Center (RC) activities, service lines, and products, including research, data products, document delivery, current awareness, acquisitions, new resource assessments, database testing, copyright, archival preservation and RC special collections (eg. AHA archives; Oral Histories, etc).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Internet, Intranet, and other electronic information initiatives, including content and taxonomy for aha.org.
  • Train and supervise RC personnel in areas of core responsibility, ensuring staff acquire and demonstrate requisite service, knowledge, and technical skills. Implement quality and service improvement initiatives as needed. Contribute to the collective knowledge sharing of RC best practices; establish key SOPS and assist with innovation of RC operations as appropriate.
  • Apply high-level communication and presentation skills to develop appropriate communications with internal and external audiences, using innovative print, verbal, visual, and electronic techniques for marketing and promotion activities and user training.
  • Work independently and as a team member to contribute to other activities, projects, or initiatives as needed to support programs, products and fiscal objectives of AHA, Data Strategy and the RC strategic mission and goals.
  • Stay current on key organizational goals, strategies and operational processes. Participate in internal training/education activities and external training/education opportunities.
  • Lead or serve on teams and engage in collaborative activities; represent the Resource Center and AHA to internal and external audiences and interact with persons at all levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Master's Degree Information/Library Sciences or related field Required

  • 5+ years Experience in a research role within a library, information services or research services organization Required

  • Advanced knowledge of health care field and key/core health care information resources - Required
  • In-depth knowledge of key library operations such as document delivery, copyright, permissions and other functions - Required
  • Knowledge of library marketing and effective communication/promotion techniques - Required
  • Advanced computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills - Required
  • Advanced literature searching and internet research skills - Required
  • Advanced experience creating reports for customers and senior leaders - Required
  • Data analytics experience - Required
  • Experience with interactive data visualization software, such as Tableau, - Preferred
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels, and exhibiting sincerity, confidence, diplomacy, maturity and professionalism - Required
  • Ability to appropriately balance and prioritize multiple activities and projects, meet time frames as defined and deliver desired outcomes - Required
  • Ability to anticipate problems and develop solutions; plan organize, coordinate and direct work processes independently - Required
  • Ability to take initiative; possess commitment and willingness to extend to get the job done - Required
  • Proven ability establishing positive working relationships with co-workers and works cooperatively with peers and leadership - Required

Salary Information:

Commensurate with related experience. The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

119000
