Scrum Specialist
About this role
Job Summary
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Delivery of the three releases on the committed plan — MVP in 35 working days, Pilot in 16, Go-Live in 30 — with a team of eight engineers and one architect. You own the sprint plan, the risks, the pilot process and the honest weekly report to leadership. You are technical enough to own design decisions when the architect is not in the room.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Run two-week sprints against the epic plan; keep utilisation, slack and scope levers visible; call slips early with options, not surprises.
-
Own design decisions at the team level: review designs, break ties, and know when to escalate to the architect.
-
Hire and onboard the team; make Day 1 productive (access, environments, first PR in the first week).
-
Run the pilot programme: customer onboarding runbook, feedback loop into the backlog, pilot-readiness and go-live checklists.
-
Set up the operating rhythm for Go-Live: on-call, incident process, SLO reviews, release approval.
-
Coach senior engineers into tech leads for their tracks; run performance and growth conversations.
MUST HAVE
-
Managed a team that shipped a B2B product from zero to first customers under a fixed plan; can show the plan, what slipped and why.
-
Hands-on engineering background in backend or platform work; can read a PR, question a design, and reason about databases, queues and APIs.
-
Worked with AI / ML or LLM-based products closely enough to understand why estimates are uncertain and how evaluation changes the definition of "done".
-
Strong on delivery mechanics: capacity planning, dependency management, scope negotiation, risk registers that people actually read.
-
Has run a customer pilot or beta programme and turned feedback into a prioritised backlog.
-
Clear written communication upward — one page, numbers first.
GOOD TO HAVE
-
Experience with Temporal, Kafka or Kubernetes-based platforms. Has set up on-call and incident management from scratch. Python or TypeScript fluency.
