SAP BW4HANA Consultant

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a hands-on SAP BW/4HANA & SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Technical Architect to design, build, and optimize enterprise data warehousing and analytics solutions. In this role you will translate business requirements into scalable BW/4HANA data models and compelling SAC stories, dashboards, and planning applications.

You will own the technical design across the full data lifecycle — from source extraction and modeling through to reporting and visualization — while mentoring developers and ensuring solutions align with architecture standards and performance best practices. This is a hybrid, full-time permanent position ideal for a professional with 3–5 years of SAP BW/BI experience who is ready to take ownership of end-to-end analytics architecture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●       Design and architect end-to-end SAP BW/4HANA solutions, including data flows, LSA++ layering, and enterprise data-model standards.

●       Build and optimize core BW/4HANA objects: Advanced DataStore Objects (aDSO), CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views, InfoObjects, and BW queries.

●       Define data-acquisition strategies using ODP (Operational Data Provisioning), standard and generic extractors, and SLT, integrating with SAP sources such as S/4HANA and ECC.

●       Develop transformations, DTPs, and process chains; implement AMDP and ABAP routines for complex business logic.

●       Apply mixed modeling — combining BW/4HANA with native SAP HANA objects (Calculation Views, CDS Views) — to achieve optimal performance.

●       Architect and build SAP Analytics Cloud content: stories, analytic applications, dashboards, and planning models.

●       Configure SAC connectivity — live and import connections to BW/4HANA, SAP HANA, and S/4HANA via SAP Cloud Connector and SAP BTP.

●       Design SAC Planning solutions including data actions, allocations, value driver trees, and predictive / smart features where applicable.

●       Lead BW-to-BW/4HANA conversion and migration activities (in-place, remote, or shell) and SAP Datasphere integration where relevant.

●       Define and enforce security and authorization concepts (analysis authorizations, SAC roles and teams).

●       Tune performance across BW queries, HANA views, and SAC stories; troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

●       Produce and maintain technical design documents, data dictionaries, and architecture standards.

●       Collaborate with functional consultants, business stakeholders, and BASIS teams; mentor junior developers and review deliverables.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

●       Strong expertise in BW/4HANA modeling: aDSO, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views, InfoObjects, transformations, DTPs, and process chains.

●       Proficiency with BW Modeling Tools (Eclipse / BW-MT) and ABAP for BW, including routines and AMDP.

●       Solid working knowledge of native SAP HANA modeling (Calculation Views, CDS Views) and mixed-modeling scenarios.

●       Hands-on SAP Analytics Cloud experience: story and analytic-application design, model building (live and import), and connectivity setup.

●       Experience with data extraction using ODP / ODP-SAPI, extractors, and SLT from SAP source systems.

●       Working understanding of BW and SAC security and authorization concepts.

●       Strong SQL skills and data-warehousing fundamentals (dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT).

●       Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and to produce clear documentation.

PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE

●       SAP Datasphere (formerly SAP Data Warehouse Cloud) experience.

●       SAC Planning implementation experience (data actions, allocations, predictive planning).

●       Exposure to SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics and CDS-based reporting.

●       Experience with SAP BTP, SAP Cloud Connector, and hybrid landscape integration.

●       Familiarity with end-to-end SAP Datasphere–SAC scenarios or third-party BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).

●       Agile / Scrum delivery experience.

CERTIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

●       Certification: SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP BW/4HANA (preferred).

●       Certification: SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Analytics Cloud (preferred).

●       Certification: SAP HANA-related certifications (a plus).
