Job Description

At Griffith’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, research drives real-world change.

We challenge the status quo, partner with communities and industry, and translate evidence into practice to improve health outcomes for all. Our work spans innovation, policy and care delivery with a strong focus on equity and impact. We support emerging researchers, champion inclusive leadership, and collaborate globally to amplify our reach and results.

We are seeking a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join a dynamic multidisciplinary research program focused on improving prevention, acute care and recovery outcomes for children experiencing burns and trauma. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality research spanning clinical studies, implementation science and health services research, working closely with clinicians, consumers, researchers and policy stakeholders to improve outcomes for children and families.

Depending on experience, appointments may be made at either the Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow level.

As a Research Fellow, you will:

  • Conduct and coordinate research activities that contribute to externally funded research programs focused on paediatric injury and burn care
  • Design and undertake clinical, implementation and health services research projects, including clinical trials and cohort studies
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers, consumers and policy stakeholders
  • Contribute to competitive research funding applications and develop a strong publication record
  • Lead the preparation of publications, presentations, policy briefs and research reports
  • Support co-design, stakeholder engagement, knowledge translation and implementation activities
  • Manage research projects to achieve outcomes within agreed timelines, budgets and reporting requirements
  • Assist with the supervision and mentoring of higher degree research candidates, research assistants and project staff.

As a Senior Research Fellow, you will:

  • Lead components of externally funded research programs in paediatric injury and burn care
  • Design and oversee clinical trials, cohort studies and implementation research projects
  • Drive interdisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, health services and policy partners
  • Develop and lead competitive research grant applications, including NHMRC and MRFF funding schemes
  • Contribute to strategic research development within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Griffith Health
  • Lead the production of high-impact publications, reports, policy briefs and conference presentations
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, co-design and knowledge translation initiatives to maximise research impact
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to higher degree research candidates, postdoctoral fellows and research staff
  • Manage multi-site research projects and provide leadership within collaborative research teams.

This is a fixed term (two year), full-time position primarily based in Brisbane at the Queensland Children's Hospital. As Griffith is a multi-site university, you may be required to work across other locations.
