Job Description

What your day might look like:

• The R&D Intern participates in laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for various types of evaporation and crystallization processes.
• As part of the Research & Development team, you will work with Research Engineers and Research Chemists executing experimental protocols, meeting quality and schedule goals, and ensuring research objectives are achieved.
• You will work on projects from the initial concept phase, through laboratory testing, data analysis, and protocol development.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Laboratory Support: Assist Research Engineers and Research Chemists in conducting laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for evaporation and crystallization processes
• Equipment Monitoring: Monitor and maintain laboratory testing equipment, ensuring proper operation and data integrity
• Data Collection & Analysis: Obtain, organize, and analyze experimental data
• Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering design calculations related to research findings and process optimization under the guidance of experienced Research Engineers
• Protocol Development: Assist in developing, documenting, and validating laboratory test protocols and standard operating procedures
• Documentation: Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, project records, and technical documentation
• Quality Assurance: Validate that all experimental data, test results, and technical documentation are completely and accurately recorded and consistent
• Team Collaboration: Communicate findings and observations effectively with Research Engineers, Research Chemists, and cross-functional teams through written reports and verbal updates
• Project Support: Assist with project issue resolution related to experimental design, testing, and data interpretation
• General Support: Assist with additional research-related tasks as assigned
   

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good technical writing and oral communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks at hand
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow laboratory safety protocols and procedures
• Full-time availability for Summer 2027

Compensation:

• The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly bench-marked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $21.32-$24.21 USD
