About this role

Job Summary

Junior GitHub API Automation Engineer - 2 to 4 yrs experience.

We are seeking a Junior Automation Engineer to develop and maintain Python-based automation for GitHub workflows, API integration, and CI/CD activities. The role requires good Python scripting skills, Git/GitHub knowledge, and basic DevOps experience

Key Responsibilities

    Develop Python scripts to automate GitHub workflows such as cherry-pick, revert, and fetching Pull Requests (PRs) and metadata such as Jira Ids.

    Work with REST and basic GraphQL APIs and process JSON/XML payloads.

    Implement exception handling, logging, and retry mechanisms for API, network, and runtime failures.

    Use Regex and string manipulation to extract data from unstructured text.

    Work with Git/GitHub workflows including branches, PRs, merge/rebase, cherry-pick, and revert.

    Develop and maintain basic CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins.

    Troubleshoot automation and CI/CD failures by analyzing logs and API responses.

Skill Requirements

2

–4 years of hands-on experience in Python scripting and automation.

    Good understanding of REST APIs and basic GraphQL.

    Good understanding of Git and GitHub workflows.

    Basic knowledge of CI/CD concepts and GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

    Understanding of Python iterators, exception handling, JSON, and basic Shell/Linux commands.

Other Requirements

  • Basic understanding of DevOps practices and build/deployment automation.
  • Experience with GitHub API automation.
  • Basic Docker/container knowledge.
  • Awareness of GitHub Advanced Security tools such as Dependabot and CodeQL.
  • Awareness of Copilot AI automation.
