The role

The Protection & Control Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the systems and technologies that help keep Vector’s electricity network safe, reliable and resilient.

Over the course of a full-time, ten-week placement, you’ll build your understanding of protection systems, field automation and power system operations while working alongside experienced engineers. You’ll be exposed to a range of engineering activities, including troubleshooting, device configuration, technical analysis, design reviews and improvement initiatives, giving you practical insight into the technologies that underpin network reliability.

Who are we looking for?

  • You’ll be studying Electrical Engineering and have an interest in power systems, protection and control, automation, and related technologies
  • You enjoy solving technical problems, are keen to build your analytical skills, and are motivated by learning how complex systems operate
  • You have good attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • You communicate clearly, work well with others, and are comfortable learning from experienced engineers and contributing your ideas
  • You’re self-motivated, curious and eager to learn, with a willingness to develop your technical knowledge and grow through new experiences.
