Teledyne Energetics UK have been designing and developing solutions for the safety, arming, and initiation technology sector since 1984. This includes military energetic devices from components through to complete systems. Some of the flagship product lines include active vehicle safety systems, sea mine fuzes, modular artillery fuzes, flight termination units, electronic Safe & Arm Units, and electronic Ignition Safety Devices. Originally part of the Teledyne e2v family, Teledyne Energetics also delivers a range of services to its global customer base. Design services include modelling and testing of fully packaged circuitry for control and initiation of detonators, which are carried out at our fully licensed site at Lincoln. What We Are Looking For

We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Risk and Compliance Manager to grow their career within Energetics Initiation Systems engineering group.

Teledyne Energetics develops and manufactures safety critical system devices and assemblies for energetic devices such as detonators and Safety Arming Units. The successful candidate will be supported with learning plans, developing their skills to proactively influence the product through production.

The Project Risk and Compliance Manager supports On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery against customer and internal KPIs for customer-led device manufacturing programmes. The role is responsible for identifying and mitigating project risks to OTIF performance, developing and implementing contingency plans, and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, regulatory and operational standards.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Direct line management and leadership of engineering Assembly and Test specialists

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of programme and OTIF delivery risks, producing robust contingency plans through the application of established risk management methodologies and tools

  • Oversee compliance of products, documentation, and manufacturing processes with applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards, and internal procedures

  • Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, embedding best practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement to enhance operational and delivery performance

  • Define and execute manufacturing production and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) activity plans in line with customer requirements

  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of relevant emerging technologies, processes and standards

  • Establish and maintain strong working links with internal and external Development, Engineering and Commercial functions

  • Undertake cost estimate and variance analysis to ensure competitive pricing and desired margin achievement

  • Manage product configuration control in line with customer expectations and company procedures

  • Attend all learning and development opportunities provided by the Company

  • Understand and fully comply with the national and international export, import and ITAR rules and legislation.

Personal Specification:
It is essential that all candidates have the following:

  • Be eligible for UK Government Developed Vetting (DV) UKSV security clearance

  • Demonstrated leadership and experience within engineering development, manufacturing, or a similar technical environment

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering or scientific discipline, enabling credible technical engagement with engineering and production teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.

  • An ability to read and understand written technical operating procedures, drawings and technical documents

  • Sound commercial acumen, confidence and professionalism with excellent communication and interpersonal skills providing the ability to represent the manufacturing engineering department at all levels.

  • High motivation, responsiveness and focus, also possessing meticulous attention to detail – crucial for ensuring demanding manufacturing process requirements are fully understood and met.

  • Conversant with Microsoft office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint

It would be desirable if candidates could demonstrate the following:

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering standards applicable to high-precision manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with energetic initiation devices, safety and arming units (SAUs), and related energetics systems and products.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical application of recognised project management methodologies and associated tools.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of automated manufacturing commissioning strategies, processes, and best practices.
