Job Description

  

Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Coordinator supports day-to-day import and export compliance activities for the local business unit under the direction of the Director, Trade Compliance Marine. This role is responsible for processing import and export transactions, maintaining trade compliance data, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities include the following.

  • Support daily processing and monitoring of export and import transactions.
  • Review sales orders and transactions to ensure appropriate screening for denied parties, restricted end use/end users, and diversion risk.
  • Maintain trade compliance determinations and data, including Harmonized System (HS) codes, export classifications, country of origin, valuation, trade preference qualifications, and documentation requirements in the trade compliance management system.
  • Work with internal departments, customers, vendors, freight forwarders, distributors, and customs brokers to support compliant import and export activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of applications and filings to U.S. government agencies, including export licenses, advisory opinions, CCATS, and protests.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with the USMCA (US-Mexico-Canada Agreement) requirements where needed.
  • Assist with securing a Manufacturing License Agreement (MLA) where required under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of trade compliance policies, procedures, work instructions, and systems in collaboration with the Trade Compliance Manager.
  • Assist with employee awareness and training related to trade compliance regulations, company policies, and best practices.
  • Maintain export and import records in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Assist with risk assessments, audits, and investigations related to potential import/export compliance issues.
  • Support the implementation and follow-up of corrective actions identified through assessments or investigations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support compliance and business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in import/export operations, trade compliance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. import/export and customs regulations, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements to business transactions preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Experience with automated trade compliance systems (e.g., denied party screening tools) preferred.
  • Experience preparing or supporting training activities is preferred.
  • Position is based onsite in the Dallas, TX area but may require occasional travel to business units in Houston, TX, San Diego, CA and Tijuana, Mexico.

Position requires U.S. Person status for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data.

Target pay range: $55k - $65k
