The Role 

The SME Portfolio Intern will support the Portfolio Management team in monitoring and analyzing the performance of SME customers. The role provides hands-on experience in portfolio management, data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence while developing practical skills in financial services and customer portfolio optimization. 

This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to build expertise in data analytics, portfolio management, and business performance within a dynamic and technology-driven environment. 

What You Will Do 

• Assist in monitoring the performance of SME portfolios using reports and dashboards. 

• Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly portfolio performance reports. 

• Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. 

• Assist in maintaining accurate portfolio records and ensuring data integrity. 

• Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards using Power BI or other reporting   tools. 

• Assist with data extraction, cleaning, validation, and reconciliation. 

• Conduct research and provide analytical insights to support portfolio management initiatives. 

• Collaborate with the Portfolio, Risk, Product, and Operations teams on data-driven projects. 

• Assist with ad hoc reporting and business analysis requests. 

• Maintain high levels of accuracy and confidentiality when handling customer and portfolio data. 

What You Bring 

Educational Qualification 

• Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. 

• Must have successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. 

• Strong academic record. 

 

Experience 

• Previous internship, academic project, or coursework in data analytics, business intelligence, finance, banking, or a related field is an added advantage. 

• Basic knowledge of data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence concepts is beneficial. 

 

Professional Competencies 

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis. 

• Basic understanding of Power BI, SQL, MySQL, or similar reporting tools is an advantage. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Data cleaning and validation skills. 

• Research and reporting skills. 

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 

• Good written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. 

• Integrity and confidentiality when handling business data.
