ACCOUNTABLE TO: Operations Manager / Designated Operations Representative
ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Safe and timely completion of moving, delivery, hauling, transportation, loading, unloading, and customer-service assignments
COMPENSATION RANGE: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour, commensurate with driving experience, moving experience, licensing, qualifications, and assignment requirements. Mileage reimbursement of $0.76 per mile based on the current IRS standard business mileage rate.
ANTICIPATED TRAVEL: Approximately 90% local and regional travel; field-based
DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily mobile and field-based work involving frequent driving, loading, unloading, lifting, and customer interaction. Work may take place at residential properties, commercial facilities, warehouses, loading docks, storage facilities, and delivery locations in varying weather and traffic conditions.
POSITION SUMMARY
The On-Call Box Truck Driver / Moving Specialist is responsible for safely operating non-CDL box trucks to complete local and regional moving, hauling, pickup, delivery, and relocation assignments.
The role includes loading and unloading cargo, securing furniture and equipment, performing vehicle inspections, navigating assigned routes, completing delivery documentation, and providing professional customer service.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics and moving environment with varying schedules and short-notice assignments.
SCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate 16–26 ft. box trucks for residential moves, commercial relocations, deliveries, pickups, and hauling assignments
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload furniture, equipment, appliances, boxes, and other cargo
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report safety, mechanical, or maintenance concerns
- Use GPS, routing applications, traffic information, and dispatch instructions to complete assignments safely and efficiently
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, operations personnel, team members, and customers
- Use hand trucks, dollies, moving straps, blankets, ramps, and other approved moving equipment
- Protect customer property, cargo, buildings, floors, walls, doors, and equipment during moving and delivery services
- Follow proper lifting, loading, stacking, carrying, and cargo-securement procedures
- Collect customer signatures, delivery confirmations, photographs, and other required job documentation
- Follow traffic laws, safety requirements, company procedures, and customer-site protocols
- Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe, and professional condition
- Arrive at accepted assignments on time and prepared to perform required services
UNSCHEDULED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to short-notice, last-minute, or emergency dispatch assignments based on availability
- Assist with warehouse staging, loading, unloading, inventory organization, and storage activities
- Support changes to routes, delivery schedules, or assignments as directed by operations
- Assist customers with basic service-related questions and communicate concerns to management
- Immediately report accidents, property damage, cargo damage, lost items, delivery delays, vehicle problems, or customer concerns
- Assist with team lifting and movement of oversized, heavy, fragile, or complex items
- Perform other moving, transportation, delivery, hauling, or logistics services within the assigned scope of work
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, loading, unloading, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying
- Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs and safely maneuver furniture and equipment through narrow or confined areas
- Ability to frequently enter and exit box trucks, warehouses, loading areas, and customer locations
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate a 16–26 ft. box truck
- Ability to meet applicable driving, background, and transportation screening requirements
- Ability to meet DOT physical requirements when applicable to the assignment
- Ability to safely lift, carry, load, unload, and secure furniture, equipment, boxes, and other cargo
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to follow dispatch instructions, routes, schedules, safety procedures, and delivery requirements
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and safety-focused
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with moving and delivery teams
- Availability to accept on-call assignments based on operational needs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a Box Truck Driver, Delivery Driver, Moving Specialist, Mover, Furniture Delivery Driver, Courier, or Logistics Driver
- Residential or commercial moving experience
- Experience with loading, unloading, packing, cargo securement, moving straps, dollies, hand trucks, and protective moving equipment
- Knowledge of Greenville, South Carolina and surrounding regional routes
- Experience using GPS navigation, dispatch software, routing applications, and mobile communication tools
- Knowledge of vehicle inspections, safe driving practices, delivery procedures, and material-handling requirements
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required for standard non-CDL assignments
EMPLOYMENT / CONTRACTOR STATUS
The individual selected for this role will be hired or engaged directly by Enterprise Management Solutions, LLC and assigned primarily to support Zebulon Perry Expediters.
Classification as a W-2 employee or 1099 independent contractor will depend on the specific assignment, engagement structure, and applicable agreement. Terms related to
