Role Summary

As an IT Infrastructure Lead, you will oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of CloudFactory's physical data centre and on-premise network, ensuring high availability and performance of critical infrastructure. You will lead and develop a small infrastructure team, manage the infrastructure budget, and govern domain, DNS, disaster recovery, and compliance programs across the infrastructure estate. Responsibilities:

Infrastructure operations and network management

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and robust ongoing operation of the organization's physical data centre and on-premise network.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical on-premise systems.
  • Review and approve major maintenance, upgrades, and infrastructure change activities managed by the team.

Domain, DNS, and certificate governance

  • Govern the organization's corporate domain portfolio and enforce domain security standards (DNSSEC, DMARC).
  • Act as the final escalation authority for all domain, DNS, and certificate-related issues.
  • Define and maintain the organization's domain security policy.

SaaS infrastructure support

  • Ensure infrastructure underpins SaaS application availability and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the IT Operations Lead on critical infrastructure-related SaaS issues.
  • Review vendor SLAs for infrastructure-dependent SaaS services, escalating risk where required.

Disaster recovery and business continuity

  • Lead the design, implementation, and regular testing of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for all critical infrastructure.
  • Ensure recovery objectives (RTO/RPO) are defined, documented, met, and reviewed periodically.
  • Govern the disaster recovery programme and report on DR readiness to senior leadership.

Governance and compliance

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Audit the overall security posture of the infrastructure estate.
  • Evaluate strategic infrastructure compliance risks and escalate as needed.

Innovation and continuous improvement

  • Manage the innovation pipeline within the infrastructure domain, driving the adoption of emerging infrastructure technologies (cloud-native, IaC, DevOps).
  • Encourage and facilitate creative problem-solving and automation adoption within the infrastructure team.

Must-have skills (required)

  • Sound domain and specialist knowledge in infrastructure operations, networking, server administration, and cloud platform management, gained from recognized industry bodies of knowledge and practical experience.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and SFIA frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure estates, IT strategy, security policies, and change management frameworks.
  • Effective communication skills for engaging with team members, end-users, business stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Risk-aware and organized approach to team management and operational planning.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a small team, including workload planning, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Experience managing infrastructure budgets, including cloud computing spend, hardware procurement, and vendor contracts.
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and compliance requirements as they apply to infrastructure operations.

Academic and professional requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5–8 years of experience in infrastructure or IT operations, including experience leading a small team.

Nice-to-have skills (preferred)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices in an infrastructure context.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Experience managing hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
