Get to know the Business

GrabRentals is a core pillar of Grab's Mobility business, with the primary objective of securing vehicular and productive driver-partner supply to ensure liquidity for Grab's ride-hailing and delivery marketplace. As we evolve toward a hybrid human and autonomous vehicle (AV) supply model, we are building out an autonomous-first business unit. This unit is focused on scaling and optimizing supply channels across diverse vehicle and AV OEM partner segments to meet dynamic consumer demand, transitioning from early pilot phases to a mature scaled fleet.

Get to know the Role

We are seeking a visionary and execution-oriented Head of Platform & Autonomous Operations to architect our operational footprint from the ground up. In this high-impact leadership role, you will build the organization, processes, and culture required to scale our marketplace supply safely and efficiently.

You will recruit and lead a multi-layered, 24/7 organization bridging Centralized Management (Program Management, Safety, TechOps) and linearly scaling Ground Operations (Depot, Field Support, and Operations Control Center).

You will write the playbooks, define strict incident-response frameworks, navigate multi-OEM partnerships, and lead the charge on scaling new Operational Design Domains (ODDs)

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Organizational Leadership: Design the organizational structure, SOPs, and operational playbooks for every aspect of the platform supply lifecycle (from AV partner management to vehicle supply and uptime).
• Enterprise Scaling & Resource Management: Utilize Constraint-Based Scaling (CBS) to systematically identify and burn down bottlenecks blocking fleet expansion (e.g., AV capabilities, real estate, and long-lead-time DC fast-charging power upgrades).
• P&L & Resource Management: Own the P&L and resource planning for platform operations, encompassing headcount planning, facility management, and supply management. Optimize critical scaling ratios, specifically targeting drastic reductions in the Headcount-to-AV ratio (from >2:1 to long-term targets of <1:1) and the Cost-per-Vehicle-Mile-Traveled.
• 24/7 Operations Control Center (OCC) Leadership: Manage a 24/7 central bridge responsible for real-time fleet orchestration, supply-demand balancing, Remote Assistance (RA) queue management, and field operator dispatching.
• Safety-Critical Incident Command: Act as the ultimate decision-maker during severe incidents, leading cross-functional Crisis Management Teams. Make high-pressure "operational pause" or go/no-go decisions.
• Quality, Compliance & Tech-Ops Integration: Act as the "connective tissue" between ground operations and AV engineering teams, establishing tight feedback loops to translate field issues into actionable engineering fixes.
• Workforce Optimization & Vendorization: Architect shift-based rostering for a highly distributed operations workforce. Manage the optimal combination between in-house labor and third-party models for frontline operations
• Executive Stakeholder & Government Relations: Act as the primary market lead interfacing with local regulators (e.g., LTA, MOT) and senior management

Qualifications

The Must-Haves

• 5-10+ years of operations leadership experience, with at least 4 years managing highly complex, multi-variable scaling operations in AV Platforms (e.g., Waymo, Cruise, Zoox, Uber), Aviation/Airline Ground Operations, or large-scale transport/fleet management.
• Proven track record of P&L ownership and leveraging data to optimize operational ratios, specifically driving down operational costs in low-margin, high-growth environments.
• Experience building and managing large, 24/7 multi-shift distributed teams, specifically overseeing both Centralized Management layers and shift-based Ground Operations teams.
• Expertise in Constraint-Based Scaling and managing long-lead-time physical infrastructure projects (e.g., acquiring real estate, 18-month utility power upgrades for charging depots).
• Demonstrated high-stakes incident triage ability, remaining decisive under pressure to manage safety-critical events, run Crisis Management Teams, and navigate public/regulatory relations during operational pauses.
• Deep experience with workforce vendorization, including managing high-churn frontline labor pools (up to 80% annual attrition) and transitioning functions to third-party providers using strict SLAs.
