Our North Carolina team has an immediate need for an entry level Geotechnical Engineer for our Raleigh or Charlotte, NC locations.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of energy, commercial, transportation infrastructure, and construction projects. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be self-motivated and have 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience. In this position you will assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in execution of field investigation and construction oversight. You will also assist with review and compilation of geotechnical laboratory and field-testing results, perform geotechnical analyses, and prepare geotechnical reports.

The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to the following:

• Assist the Project Engineers / Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drill rig and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.
• Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, retaining structures, trenchless installation, and foundation installation.
• Assist with lab testing assignment and compilation of lab and field-testing results.
• Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under the supervision of senior staff including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, trenchless drill design, and geologic hazard evaluation.
• Assist the Project Engineers / Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.

The ideal candidate will have: 

• 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience 
• Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Desire to work onsite during geotechnical and construction phases of projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
• An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors 
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineer with an MS in Geotechnical Engineering strongly desired.
• EIT preferred

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.
