Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  

Join the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences to play a pivotal role in supporting the success of doctoral candidates throughout their academic journey. As a Doctoral Research Coordinator, you will provide specialist advice, case management, and pastoral support for doctoral students while working closely with academic staff and key university stakeholders. This is a highly relationship-focused role where you will contribute to an exceptional doctoral experience and support continuous improvement across doctoral processes and services. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Act as a key point of contact for doctoral candidates, providing specialist advice and support throughout candidature 

  • Coordinate doctoral admissions, supervision matching, scholarship processes, onboarding and orientation activities 

  • Support doctoral milestones, candidature changes, annual reviews, confirmation and continuation processes 

  • Monitor candidate and supervisor data, ensuring timely management of key doctoral processes and deadlines 

  • Coordinate examiner nominations and provide support throughout examination-related activities 

  • Organise workshops, seminars and learning activities that enhance the doctoral student experience 

  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, academic governance activities, and stakeholder engagement across the University 

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week) fixed term opportunity for 3 years. 

The salary range for this role is $63,600 - $79,300 based on skills and experience.

You will bring: 

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience 

  • Experience working within a tertiary education environment and partnering with academic stakeholders 

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively within regulated environments 

  • Experience supporting service improvement and innovation initiatives 

  • Strong relationship management, communication and customer service skills
