About the Corporate Relations Function
Corporate Relations (CR) is where we shape how the world sees Diageo, and how we show up in it.
Working at the intersection of business and society, this team builds trusted relationships with the people and organisations that matter most, from media and investors to governments, NGOs and partners. It’s fast-paced, high-impact work that protects our reputation while helping move our business forward.
Across communications, policy and ESG, you’ll collaborate globally, navigate complex challenges and play a key role in earning and maintaining our licence to operate. It’s a space for people who are curious, credible, and confident in making their voice heard
Purpose of the Role
The CRD is responsible for shaping our policy and reputational environment to
protect our license to operate, unlock long-term growth and enhance Diageo’s
reputation.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Relations director for Southeast Asia, the role is responsible for executing the Global CR Strategy within the local context of the Thailand market.
It is a trusted partner to the Thailand General Manager, the leadership team and
other functional heads in the execution of the Global CR Strategy, locally adapted where needed to ensure it is relevant and impactful to the local context and the market’s strategic priorities.
Role Responsibilities
1. Navigate and shape the external policy and regulatory environment to
protect and enable Diageo's long-term growth in Thailand. Lead
proactive engagement with government, regulators, industry
associations, and other key stakeholders to influence policy outcomes,
mitigate business risks, and unlock commercial opportunities across
excise and customs, international trade and market access, alcohol
regulation, and public health policy. Specific to Thailand, this means:
- Shape the future regulatory landscape by influencing the development of subordinate regulations under the Alcohol Beverage Control Act, enabling responsible marketing/commercial communications while safeguarding Diageo's license to operate.
- Drive licensing and zoning reform by advocating for a modernized regulatory framework that supports responsible retailing and unlocks strategic commercial opportunities.
- Advance tariff liberalization, including through Thailand–UK economic cooperation and broader FTA initiatives, to improve market access, strengthen Thailand's competitiveness, and support Diageo's long-term growth.
2. Deliver internal and external corporate communications. This includes
Diageo’s cultural transformation agenda (purpose, behaviours), media
relations, communications support to public policy and society
campaigns, and issues and crises comms.
3. Develop and implement society agenda consistent with Diageo’s Spirit
of Progress strategy where the main focus in Thailand is promoting
positive and responsible drinking, particularly in partnership with the
wider industry, government and other stakeholders.
4. Own and build trusted stakeholder relationships including government,
trade associations and other industry bodies, social aspects
organisations and civil society / NGOs.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- 10+ years in CR/relevant roles ideally in highly regulated sectors for a multinational, large organisation, trade association or agency
- Strong leadership experience: partnering with senior business leaders (including at MD/GM level), leading small agile CR teams and ability to execute through trade associations
- Ability to operate in matrix structure, including successfully implementing global strategies/initiatives at local market level, highly preferred
- Strong capabilities and background in public policy, government relations and/or strategic communications
