Commercial CounselĀ
IEX is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our legal team. In this role, you will be reporting directly to our Associate General CounselĀ and will act as a key resource and primary point of contact for our business teams, with a primary focus on commercial contracting and employment-related matters. You should have experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, handling employment matters,Ā providingĀ business focused advice directly to business teams, and exercising strong judgment withĀ a high levelĀ of integrity. You will playĀ a central roleĀ in supporting day-to-day operations.Ā
This job is a hybrid roleĀ locatedĀ in the New York office.Ā Ā

- Excellent agreement drafting and negotiating skillsĀ

What youāll do:
Commercial ContractsĀ
- Act as the primary legal point of contact for commercial contracting across the businessĀ
- Draft,Ā reviewĀ and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including customer agreements, vendorĀ agreementsĀ and non-disclosure agreementsĀ
- Develop and improve contract templates,Ā playbooksĀ and processes to drive efficiency and consistencyĀ
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to structure agreements and provide practical, risk-based adviceĀ
- Manage contract lifecycle processes and support scaling of contracting functionĀ
Employment and HR SupportĀ
- Advise on a broad range of employment matters, including hiring, terminations, performance management, and employee relationsĀ
- Draft and update employment agreements, offer letters, separationĀ agreementsĀ and related documentationĀ
- Support development and maintenance of employment policies and employee handbooksĀ
- Partner with HR on compliance with applicable labor and employment lawsĀ
- AssistĀ with internal personnel matters as neededĀ
AI & Technology Implementation
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to the implementation and use of AI and emerging technologies
- Support the ongoing development of internal AI governance frameworks, policies, and controls
- Stay current on evolving legal and regulatory developments impacting AI, fintech, and data usage
Ā General Legal SupportĀ
- Act as a key resource and primary point of contact for IEX business teams in need of legalĀ assistanceĀ
- ProvideĀ legal guidance on day-to-day business operationsĀ
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Compliance, Finance and TechnologyĀ
- Support internal policy development and implementationĀ
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as neededĀ
Your background:Ā
- 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in large law firm and/or in-house legal departmentĀ
- Strong experience in commercial contracts and employment law mattersĀ
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlinesĀ
- Business-minded, pragmatic, and solutions-orientedĀ
- Law degree (JD) from accredited law schoolĀ
- NY Bar membershipĀ required

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is betweenĀ $175,000 and $190,000Ā for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors,Ā such as:Ā training, transferable skills, work experience, businessĀ needsĀ and market demands.Ā The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.Ā This role is eligible forĀ bonusĀ and equity.Ā
