Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Chief Engineer – Manufacturing to be based at our office/ our customer’s site in Warwick

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role:

The Chief Engineer – Manufacturing is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all manufacturing engineering, industrialization, facility integration, digital manufacturing, launch readiness and production support activities for an automotive vehicle programme. The role provides single-point accountability across BIW, Stamping, Paint, Trim & Final, PTME, Dimensional Systems, Logistics, Digital Manufacturing, MES Integration, Supplier Industrialization and Launch Support.

Area of Responsibility

Programme manufacturing strategy; manufacturing engineering delivery; industrialization execution; customer relationship management; technical governance; supplier readiness; launch readiness; resource planning; financial performance; risk management; quality achievement; production stabilization; customer satisfaction.

Manufacturing Domain Leadership

Lead BIW, Stamping, Paint Shop, Trim & Final Assembly, PTME, Dimensional Systems, Logistics Engineering, Digital Manufacturing, Virtual Validation, MES/SCADA and Industry 4.0 deployments.

BIW Responsibilities

Manufacturing feasibility, joining strategy, robotics planning, welding processes, fixtures, tooling concepts, capacity planning, build sequence definition and launch support.

Stamping Responsibilities

Press shop strategy, die development, tooling industrialization, try-outs, process validation, supplier readiness and manufacturing capability achievement.

Paint Responsibilities

Paint process planning, plant modifications, paint systems integration, quality maturation and launch readiness.

Trim & Final Responsibilities

Assembly process development, workstation engineering, ergonomics, tooling definition, line balancing, quality and throughput optimization.

PTME Responsibilities

Engine, transmission, hybrid and EV powertrain integration, end-of-line testing and manufacturing readiness.

Dimensional Systems Responsibilities

Datum strategy, measurement planning, gap & flush achievement, dimensional validation and root cause resolution.

Logistics Responsibilities

PFEP development, material flow, sequencing, warehousing strategy, supplier logistics and launch support.

Digital Manufacturing & MES

Digital twin, factory simulation, virtual build, throughput simulation, MES deployment, traceability, analytics and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Turnkey Delivery Responsibilities

Own concept, feasibility, planning, industrialization, launch, SOP and hypercare phases with complete programme governance.

Customer & Executive Leadership

Primary customer manufacturing interface, executive reviews, steering committees, escalation management and recovery planning.

Financial Responsibilities

Budget ownership, resource planning, CAPEX/OPEX governance, cost optimisation and commercial support.

People Leadership

Lead BIW, Stamping, Paint, Trim & Final, PTME, Logistics, Dimensional, Digital Manufacturing, MES, Quality, Launch and PMO leaders.

Knowledge / Experience

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Mechanical (or equivalent experience) within Automotive, Production, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant field.

Experience Requirements

Relevant automotive manufacturing experience with leadership of complete vehicle programmes from concept to SOP.

Technical Skills

Simultaneous Engineering, APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, Launch Readiness, Hypercare, Digital Twin, MES, SCADA, Lean Manufacturing, Capacity Planning, Supplier Industrialisation and Problem Solving.

Leadership Competencies

Strategic thinking, executive communication, programme leadership, customer management, negotiation, change management and delivery excellence.

KPIs

On-time SOP, PPAP approval, launch quality, production stability, budget adherence, customer satisfaction, manufacturing readiness and safety performance.

Organisation Structure

Delivery Head – Manufacturing -> Chief Engineer – Manufacturing Integration & Delivery -> BIW, Stamping, Paint, Trim & Final, PTME, Logistics, Dimensional Systems, Digital Manufacturing, MES, Quality, Launch Readiness and PMO Leads.

Overall Accountability Statement

Fully accountable for delivery of complete manufacturing scope, integration of all manufacturing domains and achievement of quality, cost, delivery, safety and timing objectives.
