Job Summary
The Workstation Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of end-user computing environments, including desktops, laptops, virtual desktops, endpoint security, software deployment, and workstation lifecycle management. The role focuses on improving end-user experience, optimizing workstation performance, maintaining compliance, and driving automation across enterprise endpoints.
Key Responsibilities
Endpoint Management Manage and support Windows and macOS workstations across the enterprise. Develop and maintain workstation standards, images, and configurations. Administer endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM/MECM, BigFix, Workspace ONE, or equivalent. Manage workstation provisioning, deployment, refresh, and decommissioning processes. Software Deployment & Patch Management Package, test, and deploy applications. Manage operating system and application patching. Ensure compliance with security and vulnerability remediation requirements. Maintain software distribution processes and deployment automation. Performance & User Experience Monitor workstation health and user experience metrics. Analyze performance issues related to CPU, memory, disk, network, and application usage. Proactively identify and remediate endpoint issues. Support Digital Employee Experience (DEX) platforms. Security & Compliance Implement endpoint security controls. Support antivirus, EDR/XDR, encryption, and vulnerability remediation activities. Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements. Participate in security audits and remediation efforts. Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop PowerShell, Python, or other automation scripts. Reduce manual effort through workflow automation. Drive standardization and operational efficiency initiatives. Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles. Incident & Problem Management Provide L2/L3 technical support for workstation-related incidents. Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues. Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams. Participate in major incident and problem management processes. Virtual Desktop & Modern Workplace Support Support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Citrix, VMware Horizon, or similar technologies. Manage virtual workstation images and policies. Troubleshoot user access and performance issues.
