Job Description

  • Part-time (0.5 FTE) with a regular roster including weekday afternoon shifts until 7pm
  • Monday, Tuesday and a fortnightly rotation between Friday and Saturday
  • Max-term contract ending June 2028
  • Based in Doncaster on the lands of the Wurundjeri Peoples
  • $46.70 - $51.26 per hour + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

Help young people feel connected, supported and empowered
Join Each's Child, Youth and Family Wellbeing Directorate and play a meaningful role in supporting young people to navigate life's challenges, build confidence and strengthen their connection to community.

As part of the Manningham Youth Services team, you'll help create welcoming and inclusive spaces where young people can access support, participate in programs, develop positive relationships and connect with services that meet their needs. Working from the Manningham Youth Hub and across the community, you'll help deliver programs and experiences that make a genuine difference in the lives of local young people.

Your role, your impact
As a Youth Engagement Worker, you'll help create safe, supportive and engaging opportunities for young people to connect, learn and thrive. Through relationship-building, program delivery and community engagement, you'll support young people to access meaningful activities and the services they need to reach their goals.

  • Welcome and engage young people accessing the Manningham Youth Hub, creating a safe and inclusive environment
  • Deliver and co-facilitate programs and activities that respond to the emerging needs and interests of young people
  • Build strong relationships with young people and support them to navigate education, employment, identity, family and social challenges
  • Connect young people to appropriate services, supports and referral pathways within the local community
  • Collaborate with community organisations and stakeholders to strengthen service partnerships and program outcomes
  • Support intake, enquiries, referrals and data collection to ensure effective service delivery
  • Contribute specialist knowledge and projects across focus areas such as LGBTIQA+, First Nations, schools and education, alcohol and other drugs, community programs and networking
  • Participate in team planning, problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
  • Work flexibly across occasional evenings and weekends to meet the needs of young people and the community

Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and creating positive opportunities for connection, growth and wellbeing.

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Diploma of Youth Work, Bachelor of Youth Work, or qualification in a closely related discipline such as Social Work or Community Services
  • Experience working with young people or transferable experience from community-based, wellbeing or support services
  • Understanding of the challenges and experiences young people may face, including education, employment, family, identity and social pressures
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young people, families and community stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other digital systems
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including some evening and weekend shifts
  • Current Working with Children Check and satisfactory National Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)
