Welding Inspection Technician
About this role
If you are a Welding Technician with experience in weld operations and inspection looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting role for you! Based in our Chanhassen, MN location, you will perform daily destructive and nondestructive tests on a variety of components to support functions across the organization. You will use specialized equipment and techniques to analyze components and report results to stakeholders within design, manufacturing and quality.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Inspect welds to specified requirements for procedure and performance qualifications
- Perform nondestructive and destructive tests of moderate complexity including visual inspections, microscopic examinations, hardness, tensile, x-ray fluorescence, digital radiography and computed tomography.
- Test and analyze a variety of welds and material types.
- Communicate and report results to stakeholders.
- Work from drawings, standards and internal specifications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in specifying appropriate tests and interpreting results.
- Learn, develop, and apply new techniques.
- Support teammates in failure analysis, product testing, and metrology activities.

- Associate’s degree in NDT Technologies or 1800 hours of technical education
- Current NDT VT Level II certification
- 4 - 6 yrs relevant experience
- Applied understanding of welding, metallurgy, and material properties
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Current NDT Level II RT and/or PT certification
- Associate’s degree in NDT Technologies
- Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Experience using Digital Radiography/Real-Time X-ray and Computed Tomography
- Various Materials and Mechanical testing techniques including metallographic sample preparation and microscopy
