Job Description – Welder 

Reports to: Production Manager 

Description of job requirements

• To carry out welding and fabrication activities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, welding procedures, quality requirements, and company standards to meet production targets. 
  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Perform welding activities in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and engineering drawings.
• Carry out fit-up verification before welding and ensure proper joint preparation.
• Maintain the required welding quality and minimize repairs and rework. 
• Ensure proper preheating, interpass temperature control, and post-weld cleaning where applicable.
• Select and use the correct welding consumables and ensure they are properly stored and handled.
• Inspect welding equipment before use and report any defects or abnormalities immediately.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
• Handle materials, tools, and equipment carefully to prevent damage.
• Work closely with supervisors, QC inspectors, and fitters to ensure smooth production.
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Cooperate with Quality Control during visual inspection, NDT, hydrotesting, or any other inspection activities.
• Report quality issues, safety concerns, equipment failures, or material shortages promptly.
• Participate in training programs, skill development, and welding qualification tests as required.
• Comply with all company rules, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements 
  

Performance Expectations

• Produce welds that comply with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Minimize repair rates and avoid repeated welding defects. 
• Weekly performance for output and repair percentage will be recorded.
• Achieve daily production targets as assigned.
• Follow welding procedures without deviation.
• Maintain good attendance, punctuality, and discipline.
• Work safely without causing accidents or unsafe conditions. 

Safety Responsibilities

• Always wear the required PPE.
• Follow all safety instructions and permit requirements.
• Never operate defective equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Keep the workplace clean and free from hazards

Skills and Experience: 

• Must possess minimum Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent
• Possession of a welding or other relevant technical certificate is an added advantage.
• Ability to read and speak Bahasa Malay and English
• Strong attention to detail, good teamwork skills, and a positive work attitude.
